    TRG Craves...Fall Food Trends

Fall is just a week away, and with the start of each new season comes a variety of new, tasty food trends. Keep reading to see what will be on the front burner as cooler weather approaches.

    • Your favorite chefs will become your favorite cheesemakers as more and more chefs transform their kitchens into in-house creameries.
    • Forget white bread and American cheese – grilled cheese sammies will be tastier and more creative this fall with chefs creating a variety of grown-up renditions of this comfort food classic. Think blue cheese layered with tomatoes and other fresh veggies on thick Pullman slices. Or better yet, head to Caviar & Bananas for the cheese toastie featuring the C&B four-cheese blend, piquillo peppers, arugula and pesto on sourdough.

    • We know that Heinz 57 is America’s favorite ketchup, but chefs have begun to create their own specialty condiments that expand upon traditional flavors. FLIP burger offers a variety of house made condiments, including smoked mayo, blue cheese foam and Coca-Cola ketchup.
    • Sorry, cupcake, there’s a new sweet obsession in town – cake pops! Lollypops made out of cake and butter cream…need we say more?

    • Be on the look out for chefs to offer crisp, fall apples alongside bold American and English cheddars - a perfect pairing.
    • The aforementioned apples will also be served up pie-style. Pies are almost as hot as cake pops right now, and we are not complaining. Taste this trend at Village Tavern whose dessert menu includes an apple cobbler topped with caramel sauce and French vanilla ice cream.

    • German-style sausages, made in-house (notice a theme here?) will offer fall flavor in the coming months. Peruse Star Provisions’ selection of house-made sausages and charcuterie to keep your at-home menu on trend this season.
